Behind The Lens

Location

This image was taken in Dana Point, California.

Time

I was going to the beach in the afternoon to shoot some photos. At about 3:30pm, I noticed the birds running back & forth when the waves rolled in and also noticed the reflection on the wet sand.

Lighting

I did not use any special lighting, just the natural afternoon sun.

Equipment

I did use my Nikon D5300 with a 55-300mm Nikkor Kit lens (300mm/ƒ/7.1/1/1600s/ISO 400)

Inspiration

The joy of life and running around of the birds did inspire me to take a few images.

Editing

As for post processing, I used Smart Photo Editor and added some bokeh filters to give a golden hour feel & look.

In my camera bag

I always have my Nikon D5300 with my 18-55 and 55-300 Nikkor lens with me.

Feedback

When you go out shooting, always keep your camera ready, no lens cap and never turned off. This gives you the chance to get the perfect shot without having to pull the camera out of your bag, remove the cap and turn it on. Always keep your post processing software in mind and have the final picture in your mind. This can help you to spot specific subjects and situations you don't want to miss. I never go out with a specific subject in mind as this gives me to shoot the unexpected.
